The most recognisable brands have a way of moving. Their easing, their timing, their sense of gravity — you'd know it without the logo. That's the standard we design toward.
A motion system has three layers
- Signature — the 1–2 second motion that says the brand's name
- Behaviour — how UI, transitions and moments feel across surfaces
- Expression — the freedom we give designers within the rules
Easing is voice
The same movement, eased differently, can feel confident, cautious, playful or aggressive. We treat easing curves the way copywriters treat sentence rhythm — a decision, not a default.
"You should be able to identify a brand by the way its interface says 'thank you.'"
Ship motion tokens, not gifs
A motion system that lives in a static PDF is a suggestion. A system that lives as tokens in the design and code libraries — durations, easings, distances — is a standard the whole company can build on.
